Suggested Books for Your Trip to the Italian Riviera
Are you looking for books for your trip to the Italian Riviera? Cinque Terre? Pack one or more of these books to take along (or load up your eReader or audiobook playlist). I read all of these books during a recent trip to Cinque Terre. They helped me immerse myself in the mood and culture of the region – from the moment the plane took off until I waved goodbye to the Genoa airport.

Beautiful Ruins is a dual timeline book. In part, it follows a multilayered love story set in a picturesque, fictional town near Cinque Terre along the Italian Riviera. The other half of the story is all set in Hollywood. The book does a fun, romantic and excellent job melding the two stories together. It is engaging from beginning to end and has a satisfying conclusion. In sum, this is a perfect vacation read. I know this because I read it in Vernazza, Italy, as I looked out my window at the Mediterranean Sea. Ah…a perfect book to take on your trip.

This book, originally written in 1922, remains in print today due to its timeless nature: four radically different women each finding themselves during a holiday to the Italian coast. Women on an adventure, love aplenty, and lots of drama and swooning. Think Jane Austin light, set at the beginning of the roaring ’20s. Perfect for vacation.
The House at the Edge of Night by Catherine BannerPublished by Random House on July 12, 2016

Not set in the Italian Riviera, but on an equally enchanting island off the Italian coast, this is as advertised. A sweeping family saga crossing generations. The remote Italian setting is comparable to that experienced while hiking amongst vineyards, lemon groves and picturesque villages anywhere in rural or coastal Italy.
